The town of Mareeba is situated on the Atherton Tableland in the state of Queensland. The town is home to around seven thousand people and can be found at the point where the Barron River meets Emerald Creek and Granite Creek.

Nature lovers will want to take the time to explore the Mareeba Wetlands, which are situated just under seven kilometres from the heart of the town. This picturesque nature reserve was specially created to protect the local bird population and boasts several great walking tracks as well as bird watching stations and unforgettable boat tours. Tours of a local coffee plantation are also offered at the Skybury Coffee Centre, which is open daily.
